Overview
This project will teach fundamental skills in working with microcontrollers and breadboard prototyping with simple electrical components. Additionally, the engineering design process will be utilized in order to bring a autonomous, acoustic instrument to life. This group will work to produce the Dragon Drum. This machine will stand on a table next to a snare drum. A pair of sticks controlled by two solenoids with act as the main producers of percussive action, while two auxiliary sticks controlled by servo motors will make rim and shell clicks. While this instrument will be programmable to play entire beats without human interaction, the group will program the device to accurately respond to MIDI input in real time.
